Synthetic Turf Council Announces New Board of Directors

(Atlanta, GA.) – During the Synthetic Turf Council 2015 Annual Membership Meeting in Atlanta, Georgia on October 5-7, the association elected its new Board of Directors.  Amy Brackin of Liberty will serve as the Chairman of the Board, which provides leadership and direction for the 216 member company organization. 

Board Officers include Vice Chairman Craig Honkomp with Sportsworks Field Design; Secretary Zach Burns with The Motz Group; Treasurer Catherine Eiswerth with Binnie & Associates; Director at Large Stefan Diderich with Bonar Yarns, Inc.;  and  Immediate Past Chairman Robert Thomas with ProGrass.  Board Directors include Jake Alexander with Genan Inc.; Phil Barlow with Shaw SportsTurf; Brad Borgman with Heavenly Greens; Mike Cobb with InnovaNet Group; Luke McCoy with BSC Group; David Nardone with Stantec Sport and  Heard Smith with AstroTurf.

“Our association has an extremely active, hardworking Board,” said Al Garver, CAE, President of the Synthetic Turf Council (STC).  “Recognized as industry leaders, the newly elected Board members will provide critical guidance and counsel.  Under Brackin’s proven leadership, the STC will continue to grow and serve the industry, as well as those looking for forthright information about synthetic turf.”

With over 200 meeting attendees, the membership meeting included keynote address by former NFL Coach Dick Vermeil talking about the essential qualities of leadership.  Other sessions included a panel of professionals discussed the human health and safety of infill; an update on ASTM initiatives for synthetic turf infill; and technical education sessions for sports fields, landscape and recreation. 

Dual-track consumer panels included end-users sharing their experiences with synthetic turf sports fields and synthetic grass for landscape and recreation.

Additional presentations included a generic overview of the characteristics of various infill systems and a presentation on the STC’s new base guidelines.  An exhibitor showcase highlighted the newest products and services in the industry and seven interactive groups set goals for the next year.  Members will meet again in New Orleans, Louisiana March 7-9, 2016.
