Synthetic Turf Council Elects New Board of Directors During Annual Membership Meeting

ATLANTA, GA – During the Synthetic Turf Council’s Annual Membership Meeting in San Diego, California on October 6-8, the association elected its new Board of Directors.

Stanley H. Greene of Sprinturf will serve as the Chairman of the Board, which provides leadership and direction for the 154 member company organization.

Board Officers include Vice Chairman David Forrester with Liberty Tire Recycling, Inc.; Secretary Bruce Lemons with Foresite Design, Inc.; Treasurer Tom Evans with ProGrass, LLC; Director‐at‐Large Doug Schattinger with Pioneer Athletics and Immediate Past Chairman Joe Motz with The Motz Group. Jim Prettyman with AstroTurf; Dale Karmie with ForeverLawn, Inc.; Scott Lowrie with Controlled Products, LLC; Steve White with Challenger Industries; Dave Anderson with D.A. Hogan & Associates; David Moxley with Sportsfield Specialties; and John Giraud with Target Technologies International Inc. complete the Board.

"Recognized as industry leaders, the newly elected Board members will provide critical guidance and counsel. Under Stanley Greene’s proven leadership, the STC will continue to grow and serve the industry, as well as those looking for forthright information about synthetic turf.”

Featuring a record attendance of 180 individuals, the membership meeting included an international panel of keynote speakers. Nigel Fletcher of FIFA, the international governing body for soccer, presented the FIFA Quality Concept for synthetic turf. Alastair Cox from Labosport discussed performance standards and test protocols, and Dr. Iain James, Senior Lecturer of Sports Surface Engineering at Cranfield University, spoke about the importance of maintenance to the long‐term performance of synthetic turf fields. A consumer panel featured Scott Reese from the San Diego Park & Recreation Department, Tina Koonce from Hemet Unified School District and Mike Dunbar from South Coast Water District.

Additional presentations discussed the new ASBA/STC Certification Program for Installers, STC’s Public Outreach and Education Campaign and overviews about the challenges and accomplishments of the past year. An expanded exhibitor showcase and interactive workgroups completed the experience. Founded in 2003, STC serves as an objective resource assisting buyers and end users with the selection, use, and maintenance of synthetic turf systems in sports field, golf and landscape applications throughout North America and abroad. As an action‐oriented organization, the STC promotes high standards and high quality in the industry through a respected member certification program and strict code of ethics.

Based in Atlanta, the Synthetic Turf Council recently launched a Public Outreach & Education Campaign to provide the community with honest answers to their most frequently asked questions. The effort focuses on presenting accurate information in layman’s terms for athletic directors, parents, school boards, parks and recreation departments, architects, landscapers, environmental groups and others interested in learning more about synthetic turf. STC actively collects reputable studies and research, as well as official statements by governmental agencies and sports organizations, which address the impact of synthetic turf sports fields.
