We invite you to share what your own company is doing to manage the issue by emailing us at or contact Dan Bond, President and CEO,, 443-640-1067 ext.1143.

How to Protect Yourself

Older adults and people who have severe underlying chronic medical conditions like heart or lung disease or diabetes seem to be at higher risk for developing more serious complications from COVID-19 illness. Please consult with your health care provider about additional steps you may be able to take to protect yourself.

The current recommended precautions to avoid exposure to the virus are the same precautions you would take to avoid the flu. To keep everyone safe:

  • Put distance between yourself and other people if COVID-19 is spreading in your community. This is especially important for people who are at higher risk of getting very sick.
  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer (must contain at least 60% alcohol to be effective).
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
  • Stay home when you are sick and do not return to work until you have been fever-free without the use of fever reducing medication for at least 24 hours.
  • Cover your coughs or sneezes with a tissue and then throw the tissue in the trash; if tissues aren’t available, cough or sneeze into the inside of your elbow.
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces. This includes tables, doorknobs, light switches, countertops, handles, desks, phones, keyboards, toilets, faucets, and sinks.
  • There is currently no vaccine to prevent COVID-19, but there is a vaccine for seasonal influenza, which is recommended for all persons over the age of 6 months.
