Synthetic Turf Council Elects New Board of Directors

ATLANTA, GA – During the Synthetic Turf Council’s Annual Membership Meeting in New Orleans, Louisiana on October 18-20, the association elected its new Board of Directors. John B. Giraud, Managing Director of Target Technologies International Inc., is Chairman of the Board of the 170 member company organization.

Board Officers include Vice Chairman David Moxley, Director of Sales for Sportsfield Specialties; Secretary Jim Prettyman, Chief Operating Officer of AstroTurf; Treasurer Doug Schattinger, President of Pioneer Athletics; Director-at-Large Scott Lowrie, President of Controlled Products, LLC; and Immediate Past Chairman Joe Motz, President and CEO of The Motz Group. Dale Karmie, CEO of ForeverLawn, Inc.; John Baize, Managing Director of ACT Global Sports; Tom Enright, Vice President of Shaw Sportexe; Dr. Davis Lee, President & CEO of InnovaNet Technology Group; Bruce Lemons, Principal of Foresite Design; Dave Anderson, Principal of D.A. Hogan & Associates; and Jeff Kendell, CEO of Liberty Tire Recycling, Inc. complete the newly elected Board.

"Our Board plays an extremely active role in shaping the strategic direction of the Council,” explains Rick Doyle, President of the Synthetic Turf Council (STC). "The STC relies on its Board and many committee volunteers to create and help implement action initiatives for each of the many applications for which synthetic turf is a solution – landscape, playgrounds, golf, sports fields, airports, dog parks, and others. Chairman John Giraud’s contributions and commitment to the STC are well-known, and I’m confident the STC will continue to grow and serve the industry under his leadership.”

Featuring a record attendance of over 200 individuals, the membership meeting included a strong educational component. Alan Beaulieu of the Institute for Trend Research delivered a compelling and engaging keynote address entitled "A Report on the Economy and Forecast for the Synthetic Turf Industry.” Concurrent panels focused on topics such as "Things to Consider When Specifying Synthetic

Turf,” "Care and Maintenance of Synthetic Turf,” "3rd Party Warranty Insurance,” and "Persuasive Facts about the Environmental, ROI and Other Benefits of Synthetic Turf.” An expanded exhibitor showcase and interactive work groups completed the successful educational and networking experience.

Based in Atlanta, the Synthetic Turf Council was founded in 2003 to promote the industry and to assist buyers and end users with the selection, use and maintenance of synthetic turf systems in sports field, golf, municipal parks, airports, landscape and residential applications.
