Act Global – Mercedes-Benz Superdome

As Louisiana’s premier sports and entertainment venue for the past 43 years, the Mercedes-Benz Superdome is rich in social and cultural history. It is best known for hosting the New Orleans Saints, seven Super Bowls and the annual college Allstate Sugar Bowl and the R & L Carriers New Orleans Bowl. As such, the Superdome requires a turf surface that can meet the rigor and performance demands of the top pro and college players.

Due to its iconic nature and high demand, the Superdome is one of the most heavily used sport, concert and event venues in the nation. For this reason, it is also one of the only stadiums to install a new artificial grass system each year as it requires the non-grass floor space between football seasons. After exceptional feedback both internally and externally regarding the quality and appearance of the 2017 field, Act Global was announced as the preferred artificial grass provider and installer for 2018 as well. Act Global was chosen to supply its superior turf system engineered to advance player safety and performance. At the conclusion of the football season, Act Global mobilized again to remove and reclaim the turf system.

The turf system used was Act Global Speed Series S5, a tall pile FB Global fiber tufted into 15-foot-wide panels which were sewn together and infilled with washed silica sand and crumb rubber. Professional game and media lines were both tufted and inlaid on the field as well as special gold 50 numbers. The installation of the field was completed on August 18th, 2018.
