LINCOLN CENTER RESTART STAGES - synlawn

After the global COVID pandemic shut down New York City for more than a year, the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts wanted to welcome its nearly 5 million annual visitors back to Josie Robertson Plaza by transforming the outdoor campus into a public art installation as part of its Restart Stages initiative focused on bringing cultural engagement to public spaces. Lincoln Center worked with the award-winning set designer, Mimi Lien, and the SYNLawn New York team (led by Anastasia Phillips) to design a temporary installation for spring and summer 2021 called "The GREEN," featuring recyclable, biobased artificial grass from SYNLawn.

Anastasia and the SYNLawn New York team donated and installed 14,000 square feet of USDA Certified bio-based SYNAugustine 347 to retrofit the outdoor plaza’s courtyard, which was selected by the designer due to the lush, realistic feel of the synthetic grass, eco-friendly product selection and its Class-A fire rating. The SYNLawn New York team rose to the challenge to give New Yorkers and tourists a green space to enjoy for relaxation, recreation and entertainment purposes. The installation was a hit among visitors and was so popular that it was covered by more than 30 online, print and TV media outlets resulting in over 980,000,000 media impressions.
