Pittsburgh, PA – December 19, 2025 – Some
exciting news to end the year--Tire Business has named Amy Brackin, Liberty
Tire Recycling’s senior vice president of sustainability, the 2025 Innovator of
the Year in Sustainability, recognizing her leadership in making sustainability
a core operating principle across Liberty.
Brackin’s
team tracks and reports environmental performance, manages compliance and
permitting, and helps ensure Liberty stays ahead of evolving regulatory
expectations while improving environmental outcomes. Her team connects daily
operational decisions to Liberty’s broader commitments around zero waste by
2030, community impact, and long-term value creation by engaging drivers, plant
workers, and site teams across North America.
Under
her guidance, Liberty has achieved an 81% recycling rate (compared to a
nationwide recycling rate of 6% for plastics), collected over 215 million tires
annually, and reduced greenhouse gas emissions even as the company has grown.
These results reinforce Liberty’s role as a national leader in tire recycling
and circular material innovation.
Amy’s
recognition follows Liberty’s 2025 Recircle Circular Economy Award win with
Walmart, which honors a closed-loop system where end-of-life tires collected
from Walmart and Sam’s Club service centers are recycled into consumer products
that are sold in Walmart stores. It also comes as Liberty continues to innovate
in other areas like rubber modified asphalt and molded goods.
