Micro-volunteering opportunities

Get involved with our Annual Conference through these quick and impactful micro-volunteering roles! Each opportunity is designed to fit your schedule while making a big difference. All STC volunteers are recognized during the conference. Here’s how you can help:

 

Meet and greet

Welcome Attendees at the Annual Conference:

  • What You’ll Do: Be the first smiling face attendees see! Arrive early at the Annual Conference to greet guests, guide them to registration, and create a welcoming vibe.  
  • Time Commitment: 2-3 hours on Day 1 (Monday).  
  • How to Get Started: Sign up via our volunteer portal. Arrive at the STC registration desk at 1PM. You can help distribute name badges, assist with conference questions or simply thank registered attendees for being with us.
  • Skills Needed: Friendly attitude, clear communication, and make our guests feel at home.

 

Welcome Warriors

Connect with New Members:

  • What You’ll Do: Reach out to new members via phone or email, personally inviting them to the Annual Conference and helping answer their questions.  
  • Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per week leading up to the event.
  • How to Get Started: Sign up via our volunteer portal. You’ll receive a member list and outreach script. Log your interactions in our tracking system to help us follow up.
  • Skills Needed: Warm demeanor, basic phone/email skills, and a passion for building community.

 

Community Interest Table Host

Spark Meaningful Discussions:

  • What You’ll Do: Host a discussion table at the Annual Conference, fostering connections on key industry topics and sharing insights with our team.  
  • Time Commitment: 1-2 hours during the event on Day 3 (Wednesday), plus 5 minutes post-session for a short report.
  • How to Get Started: Sign up via our volunteer portal. Choose a table (based on membership categories). Review provided discussion prompts, facilitate inclusive talks, and provide a brief summary of key findings afterward.
  • Skills Needed: Facilitation, active listening, and basic note-taking.

 

Social Media Supporter

Amplify Our Mission:

  • What You’ll Do: Follow our social channels and boost awareness by liking, sharing, and commenting on posts about the Annual Conference.  
  • Time Commitment: 15-30 minutes per week, flexible.  
  • How to Get Started: Sign up via our volunteer portal. Review our social media and connections guides with key messages and hashtags. Follow us on X, LinkedIn, and Facebook, then share content with your network.  
  • Skills Needed: Basic social media savvy and excitement for our cause.

 

Technical Writer or Proofreader

Write and/or Polish Our Publications  

  • What You’ll Do: Help update industry guidelines or proofread new publications to ensure clarity and professionalism before they go live.  
  • Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per document, flexible scheduling.
  • How to Get Started: Sign up via our volunteer portal. You’ll receive documents with guidelines and deadlines. Submit edits using our online collaboration tool.
  • Skills Needed: Strong writing/editing skills, attention to detail, and familiarity with industry terms (optional).

 

Turf Advocate

Champion State and Local Advocacy:

  • What You’ll Do: Support our advocacy efforts by coordinating with our lobbying teams, engaging with state and local stakeholders, sharing key messages, and promoting our initiatives to drive policy change.
  • Time Commitment: 1-2 hours per month, flexible.
  • How to Get Started: Sign up via our volunteer portal. We'll follow up with advocacy materials, key talking points, and guidance on contacting local officials or community groups.
  • Skills Needed: Passion for advocacy, strong communication, basic understanding of local/state policy and strategic priorities.
